Steenbrasdam
Initial Pioneer Rides - where are you going my lovely??
These are snaps from the initial small group of MTB pioneers trying to figure out an off road route to Hermanus. Stunning scenery hey?? That's why we became re-born cyclists - there are few other sport disciplines that can beat the outdoor, feel free feeling, adrenaline downhills and just being out there dude, with or without buddies.

Pioneers Ride

40 MTBs are scouting the W2W Route 5 - 6 December 2008. The group consists of extreme, average and casual MTBs, women, men, veterans, seniors and juniors. The members are from Somerset West, Cape Town, Tokia, Paarl, Stellenbosch and De Doorns. Our aim is to have fun, experience scenic and a variety of routes and to be the Pioneer Team that is laying the 1st step to an awesome MTB multi day event in the Western Cape. The route starts at Lourensford Farm in Somerset West and end in Hermanus, two days later and covering 180km gravel roads, jeep and single tracks (Only 6km of tar roads). We are so blessed to stay in this part of the world - one of the ultimate MTB locations on earth - but we fly and drive to far away places to participate in other similar events. This MTB event idea has occupied a part of my brain and sleeping pattern for some time and last year's SANI2C got me hooked!! The SANI2C offers a well organised, fun, average endurance, scenic experience and was created by a group of friends / passionate MTBs. It is managed professionally and there is an unique blend between community involvement and corporate sponsorship.

During the ride we'll take photos, design a logo, chat and explore the opportunities of a race that is planned for April 25 - 27 2009. Read and see more about the ride on 8-12-08 onwards!!
